Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Frequently Asked Questions and Essential Knowledge about VietHosting Services

How is Hosting data backed up?

At VietHosting, Hosting data is backed up regularly to ensure reliable recovery in case of unexpected issues.

The system performs backups on two schedules:

  • Daily backup: Performed between 03:00 – 05:00 AM, used for restoring data from the same day.
  • Weekly backup: Created at the beginning of the week during the same time window 03:00 – 05:00 AM, used for weekly recovery or when daily backups are unavailable.

The system retains two recent backup copies to ensure data can be restored when necessary.

* Note: Customers are still encouraged to maintain their own backups for critical data to ensure maximum safety.

Can I configure php.ini myself with cPanel Hosting?

Yes. Customers can configure PHP settings on cPanel Hosting through the control panel.

In cPanel, PHP parameters can be modified using the MultiPHP INI Editor or PHP Selector, allowing you to adjust common settings such as:

  • memory_limit
  • upload_max_filesize
  • post_max_size
  • max_execution_time

Alternatively, you can create a custom php.ini or .user.ini file inside your website directory to apply specific PHP configurations.

Why was my Hosting account suspended?

A Hosting account may be suspended for one of the following common reasons:

  • Late payment: The service has expired and has not been renewed.
  • Resource over-usage: Exceeding the limits of your hosting plan such as CPU, RAM, disk space, or bandwidth.
  • Terms of Service violation: Activities such as distributing malware, sending spam emails, or hosting prohibited content. See details in our Terms of Service.

Typical resource parameters applied to each Shared Hosting account include:

  • RAM: 2 GB
  • CPU Core: 2 Cores
  • Disk I/O: 100 MB/s
  • IOPS: 4096
  • Entry Processes: 75
  • Number of Processes: 150

*Note: Actual resource limits may vary depending on the hosting plan you have subscribed to.

If your account has been suspended, please contact VietHosting technical support for details and assistance with reactivating your service.

What is the difference between Web Hosting and VPS?

Web Hosting (Shared Hosting) and VPS (Virtual Private Server) are both website hosting solutions, but they differ fundamentally in system control, resource allocation, and technical requirements.

Hosting provides a fully pre-configured server environment. Users easily manage their websites through an intuitive control panel (like cPanel or DirectAdmin) without worrying about maintaining the underlying operating system.

In contrast, a VPS is an isolated virtual machine. Users are granted full Root or Administrator access, providing the ultimate freedom to install operating systems and configure custom software environments.

Criteria Hosting (Shared Hosting) VPS (Virtual Private Server)
Management Level Application-level management via Control Panel. Full system-level access (Root/SSH/RDP).
System Resources Shared server resources (securely isolated via CloudLinux). 100% dedicated hardware resources (KVM Virtualization).
System Configuration Pre-optimized Web Server, PHP, and Database environment. Total freedom to choose the OS (Linux/Windows) and software stack.
Technical Requirement Beginner-friendly; no technical expertise required. Requires System Admin skills (or Managed Server services).
Scalability Upgrades limited to predefined hosting plans. Highly flexible; scale RAM, CPU, and Storage on demand.

Summary: Hosting is a perfect "turnkey" solution for small to medium websites. As your traffic surges or your project requires custom server configurations, upgrading to a VPS provides the robust power and flexibility you need.
